Founding nail of the Isme-Dagan. Isin, 1953 - 1935 B.C. Light beige clay. L 14.5 cm. Cone with cuneiform inscription. The inscription was made by Išme-Dagan, the fourth king of the I Dynasty of Isin, which ruled southern Mesopotamia for a time. The inscription testifies that the city walls were strengthened under his rule and reads: Išme-Dagan, the strong man, the king of the four regions, when he abolished the tribute of Nippur and freed his soldiers from service, he built the great rampart of Isin. The name of this great wall is: Išme-Dagan is the arm of the great An, thanks to Enlil. Intact. Provenance: Ex Jens Knudsen Collection, Hamburg, before 1990.

Ich möchte der im Druck befindlichen neuen Auflage meines 'Northern Germany' ein paar Bemerkungen über das im Nov. vor. J. eröffnete Kestner-Museum einfügen ... und hatte mich mit diesem Anliegen an Dr. Schuchardt ... gewandt, die aber ohne Antwort geblieben. - Am oberen Blattrand gering knitterig, insg. wohlerhalten. - NDB 1 (1953), S. 516. - Fritz Baedeker (1844-1925) war der jüngste von drei Söhnen des Verlegers Karl Baedeker. Er führte den Verlag seines Vaters von 1869 bis zu seinem Tod. - Dabei: Ders. Eigenhändige Postkarte mit Unterschrift "Fr. Baedeker in Fa Karl Baedeker" an Herrn A. v. Seefeld in Hannover. Leipzig, 20. Feb. 1890. - "Verbindlichen Dank für die frdl. Antwort auf die ... abgefasste Notiz über das K.(estner) Museum. So sehr ich mich im allgemeinen des Entgegenkommens bei Gelegenheit solcher Anfragen wie der an Dr. Sch.(uchhardt) erfreue, treten doch manchmal durch Nichtbeantwortung die unangenehmesten Verzögerungen ein, wenn nicht ein gefälliger anderer Correspondent, wie Sie jetzt, helfend eintritt." - Einige kl. Artist information: actually Karl Julius Rudolf Poeschmann, also Rudolph, German landscape and genre painter. Landscape and genre painter (1878 Plauen/Vogtland to 1954 Dresden), childhood in Plauen, supported here by the drawing teacher Hermann Reinstein (1844-1935), then private pupil at a Munich art school, studied from 1896 at the Munich Academy under Johann Caspar Herterich, from 1897 studied at the Dresden Academy under Carl Bantzer and master student under Gotthard Kuehl, then freelance in Dresden, regular summer study trips through Saxony (especially the Vogtland, Ore Mountains and Lusatia), to Franconia, the Harz Mountains and to Austria, Holland, France (Paris) and Switzerland, organised various exhibitions such as the Glaspalast in Munich, member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative, the Reich Association of Visual Artists in Germany, the Dresden Artists' Association, the Dresden "Märzbund" and the General German Art Cooperative, active in Dresden, source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Dressler, Müller-Singer, registers of the Dresden and Munich academies, Glaspalast catalogues and Frank Weiß "Malerei im Vogtland".
