Jug. Eastern Mediterranean, 4th century AD. H 16.5 cm. Aubergine-colored clear glass. Oval body with thick ring foot, long neck and wide, folded lip. Wide, slightly ribbed handle of eggplant and greenish glass pulled from the shoulder, bent and attached to the rim. A thread ring of greenish glass around the neck. Broken at the neck and handle and replaced. Provenance: ex Gorny & Mosch 300, 2023, lot 279; ex collection Dr. Wiegand, Bavaria, collection period 1960s to 2005.
