Pair of gold earrings or hair rings with carnelians and animal heads. Sasanian, 3rd - 6th century AD. 12.59g, ø 3.8cm. Hollow-worked, made from an externally ribbed gold hoop with open ends ending in stylized animal heads whose ears are decorated with set carnelians. Gold! Cf.
