Lote 30 - Frédéric Dubois, Miniature Portrait of a Lady Bust portrait of a young woman in a black off-the-shoulder dress, with a coral red pearl necklace and a rose in her black hair, miniature painting, around 1820, signed on the left "F. Dubois" on the left, minimal traces of age, on the reverse fragmentary old French laid paper book page as cover, behind glass in a rectangular ebonised frame with oval picture section framed by a chased brass profile, folded dimensions approx. 12 x 8.5 cm. Artist information: French painter, pastel draughtsman and miniature painter as well as graphic artist and caricaturist (ca. 1760 to ca. 1822), probably a pupil of Johann Heinrich Schröder, from 1780 he worked at the Paris "Salon de la Correspondance", from the mid-1880s he produced miniatures which he exhibited at the Louvre from 1895-1804, mentioned as court painter to Louis Joseph, Prince of Condé in Paris until 1804, then in St. Petersburg until 1818, appointed member and professor of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg in 1813. Petersburg, produced portraits for the court of Tsar Alexander I and the nobility, from 1818 in London, organised various exhibitions here in 1819-20 - above all the exhibition of the Royal Academy, represented in the British Museum London, the Pushkin Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow as well as in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, source: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bénézit, Ernst Lemberger "Meisterminiaturen aus fünf Jahrhunderten" and English Wikipedia.
