Jacob Spon, a Protestant physician from Lyon, wrote this History during a stay in Geneva in 1679: he drew on sources already in print, supplemented by information obtained from two informants in Geneva. Copper-engraved illustration comprising 15(of 16) plates out of text, including: 2 large fold-out panoramas of Geneva after paintings by Robert Gardelle, 2(of 3) maps (one on a fold-out leaf), a plate of numismatic representations, and 10 plates of sigillographic representations; vignette with the motto of the city of Geneva repeated in the titles.
