Two corners worn, tear with very small leather loss on one board. Inverted tomaisons for the 2 volumes of the Stuarts. The famous Scottish philosopher and historian (1711-1776), Hume began in 1762 to publish a history of England, the first volume of which was devoted to the Stuarts. Despite criticism, he continued to publish this history, completing it in 1761. It covers the period from the origin of the Bretons to the end of Charles II's reign in 1689. A very fine copy.
