Thomassin" and inscribed "München", on the reverse of the painting support a fragment of a stamp, probably from the frame shop "A Hartmann", and on the frame a fragment of a Munich gallery or exhibition label from 1929, minor marginal defects due to framing, partially gilded, more recent magnificent frame and behind glass, folded dimensions approx. 18 x 27 cm. Artist information: actually Désiré Thomassin, published his paintings under the pseudonym: "Th. Renardt", Austrian painter and composer (1858 Vienna - 1933 Munich), studied 1877-81 at the royal music school in Munich under Josef Gabriel Rheinberger and Max Hieber, then worked as a music teacher, from 1883 onwards as a painter and composer. From 1883, encouraged by Wilhelm von Diez, turned to painting, worked for the Munich art dealer Jakob Anger and adopted the pseudonym "Th. Renardt", member of the Reich Association of Fine Artists Berlin, active in Munich, source: Vollmer, Dressler and Internet.
