Hervé "Foyer de la Danse [engl.: Foyer des Tanzes]" 27 x 22" further annotations and indistinct stamp, on the reverse of the frame a modern label with information on the artist, framed behind a narrow passepartout in an old wide historicist gilt stucco frame in second use (def.), folded dimensions approx. 22 x 27 cm. Artist information: signed "Jules R. Hervé", also Herve, French artist. Figure, genre and landscape painter (1887 Langres - 1981 Langres), initially trained as an artist at the evening school in Langres, later studied at the School of Arts and Crafts and the Paris Academy, here a pupil of Fernand Cormon and Jules Adler, member of the Société des Artistes Français, attended the Paris Salon from 1910, lecturer in painting from 1911-43, active in Paris, source: Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bénézit, Schnurr, Edouard-Joseph, Wikipedia and Internet.
