Hambüchen" lower left, on the reverse of the stretcher probably titled "auf See" by an unknown hand, antique frame with small bump, folded dimensions approx. 60.5 x 80.5 cm. Artist's information. Landscape, marine and portrait painter and graphic artist (1901 Düsseldorf - 1972 Düsseldorf), son and pupil of the painter Wilhelm Hambüchen (1869-1939), from 1916 pupil of the Düsseldorf Kunstgewerbeschule, 1918-23 studied at the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie, here from 1921 master pupil of Carl Ederer, accompanied his father on painting trips to Katwijk and Nieuwpoort around 1930, acquaintance with Eugen Kampf and Helmuth Liesegang, member of the artists' group "Laetitia", 1920-71 member of the Düsseldorf artists' association "Malkasten" and member of "Gruppe 49", active in Düsseldorf, source: AKL, Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bruckmann "Lexikon der Düsseldorfer Malerschule", Bongers "Bildenden Künstler im Land Nordrhein-Westfalen" and Internet.
