Clemens Freitag, Balzende Auerhähne Pond shore with birches and courting capercaillies in a misty morning autumn landscape, impasto painting in restrained colours, oil on canvas, c. 1930, signed and inscribed "Clemens Freitag München" lower left, indistinct annotation "...berger", minimally in need of cleaning, originally framed in black-brown lacquer moulding, dimensions approx. 60 x 80 cm. Künstlerinfo: also Freytag or Freytag-Koeppen, German painter (1883 Heisingen - 1969 Munich), studied at the Berlin Academy, further artistic training in Düsseldorf and Munich, influenced by the Düsseldorf marine painter Johann Dietrich "Jean" Hendrichs (1882-1937), resident in Munich from ca. 1912, during the 1st World War in Upper Bavaria.
