Painter, draughtsman and illustrator (1854 Hamburg-Altona - 1942 Dresden), studied 1871-72 at the academy in Dresden and 1875-79 at the academy in Berlin under Karl Gussow, from 1879 resident in Dresden again, 1885 study visit with Carl Bantzer in Niederwalgern in der Schwalm, 1903 appointed professor, 1909 gold medal at the Great Art Exhibition in Munich, member of the Goppeln artists' colony and the Willingshaus painters' colony, active in Hamburg, Thalheim and Dresden-Strehlen, source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Dressler and Internet.
