Landscape painter (1887 Braunschweig - 1970 Gstadt/Chiemsee), initially a pupil at the Braunschweig School of Arts and Crafts, studied at the teaching institute at the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts, then as a church painter and craftsman temporarily in Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, from 1908 in Munich, undertook study trips to Hungary and Italy, from 1918 turned to landscape painting, 1928 first stay in Gstadt am Chiemsee, subsequently regular stays at Chiemsee, Member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Künstlerbund Niedersachsen, organised the Great German Art Exhibition at the Haus der Deutschen Kunst in Munich from 1938-44, bombed out in Munich in 1943 and moved to Gstadt am Chiemsee, founding member of the "Notgemeinschaft Bildender Künstler Gstadt" in 1948, which later changed its name to "Gemeinschaft Bildender Künstler Chiemsee", 1956-69 its chairman, source: Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bruckmann "Münchner Maler des 19./20th century", Dressler and Internet.
