Selleny", inscribed "Frascati" and dated "1854", the other sheet illegibly inscribed lower right, each with label "Anton Schestak Vergolderei Wien ..." on the reverse of the frame, heavily browned, framed behind glass as pendants (frame bumped), folded dimensions approx. 38.5 x 25.5 cm. Artist information: also Seleny or Sellény, Austrian painter, draughtsman and lithographer (1824 Untermeidling to 1875 Inzersdorf), studied at the academy in Vienna under Franz Steinfeld and Thomas Ender, several study trips to Tyrol, Italy and Lombardy, acquaintance with Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian, 1857-59 participation in the Novara expedition and creation of approx. 2,000 watercolours, accompanied the Archduke on his travels to Brazil, North Africa and the Cape Verde and Canary Islands, subsequently settled in Vienna, also worked as a garden architect (Vienna City Park and the gardens of Miramare Palace), painted the Imperial Villa in Bad Ischl in 1873, source: Thieme-Becker, Wurzbach and Wikipedia.
