Artist information: German sculptor, draughtsman and graphic artist (1906 Arnsberg i. Westphalia to 1993 Berlin), 1922-25 stone sculptor apprenticeship, 1925-29 journeyman and attendance at the Folkwangschule Essen, studied 1929-34 at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste (HBK) Berlin-Charlottenburg under Wilhelm Gerstel, honoured with the Rome Prize and 1937-38 working stay at the German Academy in Rome (Villa Massimo), 1938-40 master studio at the Prussian Academy of Arts, 1946-50 professor at the Academy of Arts in Vienna, from 1950 member of the Academy of Arts and master studio in Berlin, 1974-83 vice-president of the Academy of Arts, active in Potsdam and later in Berlin, source: Vollmer, Eisold "Artists in the GDR" and Internet.
