Johann Elias Ridinger, "Brandfuchs..." Group of foxes and cubs in the forest, below the depiction description from the series "Betrachtung der wilden Thiere...", etching, c. 1740, inscribed below the depiction on the right "I. El. Ridinger inv pinx. sculps. etexud. Aug. Vind.", sheet browned and stained, larger retouching in the depiction, matted and framed behind glass, mat cut-out approx. 32.5 x 38.5 cm. Artist information: German painter, graphic artist and publisher (1698 Ulm - 1767 Augsburg), pupil of his father Johann Ridinger, from ca. 1711 pupil of the painter Christoph Resch in Ulm, from 1713-14 with Johann Falch in Augsburg, through the mediation of Gabriel Spitzel three years in the service of Count Metternich in Regensburg, from ca. 1718 pupil of Georg Philipp Rugendas the Elder at the Augsburg City Academy, appointed "Assessor of the Protestant Marriage Court" in 1757 and Director of the City Academy in 1759, became famous for his depictions of animals and hunting, which made up a large part of his work, source: Thieme-Becker, Wikipedia and Internet.
