Albert Moritz Wolf, Gespannfahrt circa 1900, signed in Cyrillic on the plinth, foundry mark Aktien-Gesellsch. Gladenbeck & Sohn, Bronze, dark patina, deeply melancholic motif of a mother covered in a dress and headscarf, musing with her head bowed, unaware of her surroundings, sitting on a horse-drawn carriage, her son has taken a seat at the side of the coachman's seat instead of steering, playing the accordion, the horse finding its own way home, on a long rectangular plinth with a naturalistic surface, on a marble base with a small chip to the base, traces of age, strapwork not quite complete, l 35 cm. Enclosed: Book L. Cerwinske, Russian Imperial Style, Wings Books, New York 1990, p. 197, sculpture illustrated there. Artist information: German sculptor (1854 Berlin to 1923 Lüneburg), probably trained as a drawing teacher, first sculptural works can be traced from 1879, studied at the Berlin Academy of Art and exhibited at the academy exhibition from 1881, demonstrably until at least 1885 as a drawing teacher at the Französisches Gymnasium Berlin, In addition to monumental works, he also produced small sculptures and medals, as works signed in Cyrillic with genre depictions of Russian life are in circulation, it is speculated whether he was temporarily resident in Russia or only produced for the Russian market.
