L'on appercoit l'interieur par les deux entrées". Date: 1804 Description: The artwork shows a detailed depiction of a landscape of ruins in the centre of Pompeii. In the foreground, two figures interact with a horse; behind them, a path lined with the remains of ancient architecture opens up with a quadriga rushing towards it. The atmosphere is characterised by the play of light and shadow and the dramatic cloudy sky.
