REINHART (1761-1847), Valley of the Aniene near Subiaco, 1799, Etching Johann Christian Reinhart (1761 Hof/Bavaria - 1847 Rom): Valley of the Aniene near Subiaco Gorge with seated painter and fisherman, 1799, Etching Technique: Etching on Paper Inscription: lower left signed in the printing plate: "C. Reinhart f.". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "A Subiaco". lower left dated: "Roma 1793". Date: 1799 Description: The graphic shows an idyllic landscape scene with dense trees and rocky formations. Two figures are in the valley, which is crossed by the Aniene river. The engraving is rich in detail and contrast. Probably a later print for the French-language edition of the "Malerisch radirte Prospekte von Italien".
