Roman coins Empire Domitian (81-96) Quinarius - Laureate head r. - R/ Victory seated l. - RIC 516 AG (g 1.61) RR Beautiful specimen, by far the best that has appeared on the market. In the history of Roman coinage the quinary, that is, the half denarius, has always played a marginal role being minted only occasionally and on special occasions. While quinari from the Republican age are almost all very common, they begin to become rare in the Imperial age until they become very rare in the third century. Probably the quinari of the imperial age were related to donations from the emperors so much so that very often Victory is found in the reverses. - SPL+
