The coalition's plan was as follows: the Army of Bohemia, led by Prince Charles-Philippe of Schwarzenberg, marched against Napoleon to allow the Army of Silesia, led by Prince Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, to take Paris. Until February 8, 1814, the Allied armies advanced east and south towards Paris. Napoleon's troops then retreated. However, the 6th Coalition made a strategic error in directing the Army of Silesia north of the Marne and the Army of Bohemia south of the Seine. A succession of French victories followed in the Marne (February 10-14, 1814), Seine-et-Marne and Aube (February 15-26, 1814).
