General History of the Things of New Spain is the title of a work written, translated, edited and supervised by the Spanish Franciscan friar Bernardino de Sahagún in Nahuatl (with fragments in Spanish and Latin), between the years of 1540 and 1585, shortly after of the conquest of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. It is also called the Florentine Codex and previously known as the Laurentian Codex, since it is kept in the Laurentian Library, also known as the Laurentian Medicean Library in Florence, Italy.
