Interior with a few rare brown spots, otherwise very good condition. This copy contains 274 plates (engravings, maps and tables) out of a total of 277. The 3 plates bis and ter are missing, never bound. A frontispiece in volume 10. This copy includes the two supplement volumes, in a perfectly uniform binding. 3rd edition, in large format. Abbé ROZIER (1734-1793) was a botanist from Lyon. A member of the Académie des Sciences, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Revolution, a constitutional priest, and sought to create a National School of Agriculture. His comprehensive agricultural course, a pioneer in many technical fields, had a major influence on French agriculture. He died before completing the work, which was finished by CHAPTAL, DUSSIEUX, LASTEYRIE, CADET-de-VAUX, PARMENTIER, GILBERT, ROUGIER-LABERGERIE and CHAMBON. The Society of Writers to the Signet is a private society of lawyers founded in 1594. Since the end of the 18th century, it has maintained an important library with impressive architecture.
