Descripción

Paul ARZENS (1903-1990) Automotive projects Ink on card signed lower right. 25 x 32.5 cm. (Creases) This set of projects includes his famous electric egg, currently housed at the Musée des Arts et Métiers (Inv. 40937). Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Paul Arzens is known for having designed numerous trains, futuristic aircraft and motor vehicles. In 1938, for example, he fitted a Buick Standard with a body largely inspired by the aircraft known as the whale. The egg, meanwhile, was born of the fuel restrictions imposed by the Occupier. Equipped with five batteries enabling it to reach speeds of up to 70 km/h, this revolutionary vehicle uses aluminum and Plexiglas for its construction. Arzens used his creation as a personal vehicle until his death.
