PASCAL MOURGUE (France, 1943) for SCARABAT, Spain. "Arc" chair, 1987. Beech wood and grille. Measurements: 80 x 59 x 135 cm. Chair with a structure based on uprights and crosspieces combined to form a very light openwork scheme, with seat and back in grids. The legs adopt the shape of an arch or quarter of a circle, extracting the maximum effectiveness from the curved forms in contrast to the straight ones. Pascal Mourgue studied sculpture at the École Boulle, and later graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He began designing furniture in 1962, always prioritizing artistic integrity over commercial success. This love of art has led him to work in fields as diverse as sailboat design for Cartier, ornamental glass objects for Baccarat, architecture, painting and sculpture. It was not until the 1980s that he finally focused his career on home furnishings.

PIERRE CHAPO (Paris, 1927-1987). Extending dining table model T40, 1970s. Elm wood. With two extensions. Without extensions the table has a round shape, with the extensions it becomes oval. Measurements: 170 x 120 x 74 cm (measurements with one extension); 120 x 74 x 74 x 74 cm (measurements without extension). Round/oval dining table T40 designed by Pierre Chapo. Like all Chapo furniture, this is a bold and robust piece of furniture anchored to tradition. It is distinguished by the four square-section legs that curve at the bottom (aesthetic that acquires the name of "duck foot") to converge at the central shaft. Pierre Chapo was initially interested in painting, but his meeting with a shipbuilding carpenter in 1947 introduced him to wood and carpentry, and led him to study architecture at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After traveling in Scandinavia, Central America and working for a year in the United States, he returned to Paris and pursued his interest in wood, crafting furniture mainly from solid oak, elm, ash or teak with a dual concern for contemporary design and traditional know-how. In the French capital he opened his own workshop. Influenced by the work of Charlotte Perriand for the alpine ski resort of Les Arcs, his participation in the 1967 Salon de la Société des artistes décorateurs earned him a bronze medal.

PIET HEIN (1905-1996) & BRUNO MATHSSON (1907-1988) for FRITZ HANSEN. 'Superelipse' dining table with chromed steel legs, white laminated top with aluminum edge. Designed in 1968. Produced by Fritz Hansen in 1992. With stamp underneath the top. Measurements: 70 x 150 x 100 cm. The iconic Superellipse table which was created in collaboration with Bruno Mathsson and has been produced at Fritz Hansen since 1968. After Piet Hein had used the Superellipse as the solution to a traffic challenge at Sergels Torg in Stockholm, he saw countless possibilities for use. The table represents Piet Hein's ability as a furniture designer, since in addition to the table top he also designed the iconic tension legs.

Ceiling lamp. France, ca. 1950's. Bronze. Measurements: 37 cm diameter. Lamps with pulley and counterweight for height adjustment became popular in the 1950's, especially in avant-garde circles. The burnished and gilded bronze of the cylindrical counterweight and of the shade in the form of a saucer give simplicity, quality and elegance to the set.
