Rectangular travel writing case in burr-walnut veneer decorated with geometric friezes inlaid with exotic woods, the lid and lock adorned with hexagonal motifs centered on mother-of-pearl plaques. The lid, revealing 4 compartments and a mobile part, is sheathed in green morocco and decorated with a frieze of gilded foliage (reported). Nineteenth-century work. 17 x 34.5 x 23.5 cm. With key (damages and restorations).

Travel journal. (circa 1880). Travel writing case. (circa 1880). Closed size: 36 x 29 x 18 / 8.5 cm; open size: 36 x 60 x 17 / 7 cm. Box with elm burr veneer, black and light wood marquetry and fillets on the upper parts, brass fittings, lock with key. The lid opens to reveal a sloping writing surface covered in tan cowhide. The lower half can be opened to reveal a large storage space; the upper part also opens to reveal a compartmentalized space: two side compartments for inkwells (absent), one for pens, closed by a shelf. Elegant little writing case, probably travel size, in good condition. A few scratches on the veneer.
