L'ARISTARQUE Français, political, historical and literary journal. 1815-1816. 272 issues in two volumes. 21 by 34 cm. Contemporary half basane. Boards rubbed, one spine missing. Very good condition inside. Founded in 1799 under the title L'Aristarque Français, journal universel, by Jean-Louis VOIDET (1769-1839). War commissioner, then journalist-publisher, several times convicted of press offenses. The newspaper ceased publication in 1816, only to be revived in 1820 under the title L'Aristarque français, journal du soir. We offer here the complete issue of this newspaper, which appeared under its second title, from N°1 (May 1, 1815) to N°272 (January 27, 1816). The NL is mistaken in saying that it stopped at no. 262. The issues of the journal bear the Royal Stamp of the Seine. The newspaper describes the troubles of the second Restoration in its early days, and includes, for example, the report of Marshal NEY's trial before the Chambre des Pairs, following the Hundred Days...
