CHARLES VIRION (France, 1865- 1946). "Rayon". Partially glazed and partially glazed ceramic. Presents signature of the artist and stamp of the manufacture. Measurements: 10 x 9,5 x 6 cm. Charles Virion studied with Charles Gauthier and Jean-Paul Aubé at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris.After learning artistic faience in Choisy-le-Roi, Charles Virion moved to Montigny-sur-Loing in 1889, where he became a decorator, medalist2, sculptor and animal painter. After World War I, he designed war memorials for several municipalities, including Montigny-sur-Loing, Nemours, La Genevraye and Arbonne-la-Forêt. Works by Charles Virion are kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris3 and at the Jackson Hole Museum of Wildlife Art in Wyoming (USA).
