Following models of ANTONIN AIGON (France, 1837- 1885). "Les deux rats et l'ouf". Gilded bronze and marble base. Signed. Measurements: 10 x 14,5 x 9,5 cm. During the XIX and XX century the sculpture of animal thematic will reach finally an own status, inside the context of the romantic sculpture. Seeking to break away from the classical sculptural ideal, many artists saw in the animal theme a new way of expression, linked to the emotional and irrational nature, in a purely romantic sense.
