[LABORDE (Jean-Benjamin de)]. Mémoires historiques sur Raoul de Coucy. A collection of his songs in the old language, with translation & old music, is appended. Paris, Pierres, 1781. 2 volumes in one vol. in-18, red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, ornate ribbed spines, title and tom. pages in green morocco, gilt edges (period binding). Laborde's edition of the tale of the tragic love affair between the châtelain de Coucy and the Dame de Fayel, attributed to Raoul de Coucy, a 12th-century troubadour. The work is adorned with three portraits of the story's characters and a view of the Château de Coucy. The first volume includes fragments of the genealogy of the House of Coucy by M. Chérin. The second volume contains the original songs with translations, as well as 12 pages of engraved music with song texts (Cohen, 539). Handwritten bookplate on title page. A fine copy in contemporary morocco.
