In the drawin, in the middle of the two towers, the french and german title: 'Banque Belge' - ' Belgisch Bank'. Splendid bank project, in a modernist style. The monumental facade and two perspectives of architectural and decorative details are depicted. The grandeur of the building is highlighted by the immense colonnade that adorns the facade: the columns give a character of stability to the building so that the architecture inspires trust and safety to the public, as indicated in the inscription in large letters.Emile Delepierre, architect from Tournai, 1910-1983, created several important buildings in Tournai, first in the Art Deco style, then in the Modernist style. he was particularly versed in the "paquebot" style, characteristic of large public complexes. The city of Tournai consecrated a major exhibition in 2018 to its major architects, including Delepierre in the foreground.Modernist architecture appeared in Belgium in 1919 and developed in the 1920s and 1930s. The Institut Saint-Luc de Tournai was founded in 1878 as a drawing school: in the 20th century it became a major school of architecture; in 1936 it had 500 students.
