Extremely rare and magnificent view of the city taken from the Ilha das Cobras, with sailing ships plying the Bay of Guanabara. In brilliant contemporary coloring. Philippe Benoist collaborated with the painter Eugene Ciceri to produce spectacular colored lithographs, taken from daguerreotypes, published in Paris by Lemercier around the middle of the 19th century.
