Very rare depiction within an oval of the twenty-eighth Grand Master of the Order of Malta.Pierre de Corneillan was Grand Prior of Saint-Gilles and Grand Master of the Order of Malta in Rhodes from 1353 to 1355.De Corneillan spent much of his short period of rule (18 months) valiantly resisting the intentions of Pope Innocent VI, who had attempted to move the seat of the Order from Rhodes to a location closer to Palestine and the Mamluk possessions.
