Circle of Jacques Stella, French 1596-1657- Samson and Delilah; brown ink and wash on paper, 19.8 x 29 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: The present work recalls the controlled and refined technique of Stella's sketches, often presenting classically attired figures in grand, ornamented architectural settings. This approach is evident in a drawing by Stella in the Metropolitan Museum of Art [62.130.3], and in two works in the collection of The Morgan Library & Museum [1995.6 and 1986.114].

Circle of Jacques Linard (Troyes, 1597-Paris, 1645) "Basket of flowers". Colored pencils on laid paper. Period frame. Measurements: 17 x 22 cm; 24,5 x 30,5 cm (frame). Bouquet of late-baroque school and French invoice, ascribed to the circle of Jacques Linard, specialized in floral themes. His taste for simple forms, his skill in extracting the right qualities, the precision of the stroke, naturalism and sensuality are attributes shared by Linard's painting and this painting.
