PORTRAIT OF AN ELEGANT LADY Oil on wood. 42 x 24 cm. Signed "Albert v. Keller" lower right and dated "1909" lower left. An elegant lady stands in front of an empty, gray background on which only a shadow can be seen, her hands hidden in the pockets of her long, tight black dress, her head and face with its light skin tone turned to the left as if she were looking for the viewer. A long green scarf and her red lips are the only points of color that break up the delicate color scheme. Albert von Keller's entire oeuvre is characterized by the depiction of women. The spectrum ranges from nudes to conventional commissioned portraits.
