Francesco Bassano d. J., 1549 – 1592 Venedig, Werkstatt des DETAIL FROM "ABRAHAM LEAVES HARAN" Oil on canvas. Doubled. 55 x 42 cm. The work shown here is probably based on two paintings: on the one hand the painting "The Exodus of Abraham to Canaan" by Giacomo and Francesco Bassano in the Gemäldegalerie Berlin, and on the other the painting "Abraham Leaves Haran (1592)" by Francesco (Francesco da Ponte) Bassano (1549-1592) in the Reichsmuseum. Both works show Abraham traveling to Canaan with Sarah, Lot and his belongings under an evening sky. The detail here shows Sarah sitting on a white horse from behind, with a few, mostly shiny kitchen utensils on the ground beneath her in front of a wide landscape in the light of the setting sun.
