RIVER LANDSCAPE WITH TRAVELERS ON THEIR WAY TO A VILLAGE Oil on canvas. Doubled. 37 x 46.5 cm. Accompanied by an expertise by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jan de Maere, Rambrouch, April 10, 2024, in copy. On the wide bank of a large river, on which there are also several houses in a village, there are several figures on the move: a covered wagon, several elegant men with horses, families with children, as well as several travelers on a wooden jetty on the bank waiting for boats to cross. On the right, the large river with small sailing ships and boats decorated with figures in shimmering turquoise colors under a high sky with white cloud formations. Painting in the typical, predominantly blue and turquoise color scheme, broken up by red and blue clothing and two white white horses. According to Jan de Maere, the present painting can be dated to around 1740 and is a typical work, both in style and brushwork, by Jan Frans Beschey.
