Virgin and Child - 18th century, environment of Mathis Schoerhost, Dutch school of the late 18th century Oil on canvas measurements: 57 x 41cm, total, with frame. This oil on panel work shows the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus. The golden halos and details on the clothing indicate the influence of Byzantine and early Renaissance art. The softness of the faces and the symmetrical composition are characteristics of 15th century art.
