SIX INDIAN STEEL FLINT STRIKERS WITH PAIRS OF DUCKS AND LIONS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Mughal Northern India, late 18th and 19th century Each cast in a slightly varying shape and size, comprising three openwork specimens with pairs of ducks, either facing each other or set back to back, each pierced flint section with a frieze of repeating ogival arches reminiscent of Mughal architecture, the largest 8.4cm x 10.2cm; and another three examples with pairs of lions couchant, either facing each other or set back to back, one striker with an openwork frieze, the latter two solid, and one of them with a pair of elephants in relief facing one another and upward-curled terminals, the largest 5.2cm x 13cm.
