France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Fancy infantry officer's saber, variant of the 1882 model. Nickel-plated metal frame, guard with three secondary branches and a small counter-guard branch adorned with foliage, long-tailed cap topped by a riveted dome-button with oves, black horn handle with brass filigree, the guard plate adorned with foliage and ending in a beak. Natural buffalo tie. Beautiful straight white blade, with hollow front and flat back, marked "Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal" on the back. Nickel-plated steel scabbard with one suspension ring, with traces of oxidation rust flowers in places, symmetrical lyre-shaped sting. 106 cm (blade 92.5 cm). Comes in a tan leather carrying case that closes as a coin purse. (Wear and minor wear, carrying case worn and punctured. Fairly good condition.)
