France, Third Republic (1870-1940). Canteen girl's outfit of the 2nd Zouave of Algiers, circa 1920-30. Comprising: - Chechia in fine madder wool with blue wool pompom. - Bolero in blue woollen cloth with daffodil-colored tombôs for the Algiers Zouaves, with hollow sleeves with bell buttons. Stamped brass patriotic medal of honor with red and blue ribbon. - Vest in blue wool and madder trimmings. - Woolen madder skirt with flat goat hair braid trimmings and small white apron. - Wooden and leather galoche clogs. - Small tin-plated iron can painted blue, white and red. Complete with tan leather carrying strap. (Uncommon, beautiful, robustly made set, minor wear and tear, small moth holes on the back of the bolero. Fairly good condition). Note: This is an original outfit (not a disguise) worn by a pupil of the 2nd Zouaves d'Alger regiment.
