A Gabonese Mbete reliquary figure Standing female figure carved from soft wood with a reliquary on the back. Remains of polychrome painting in black, white and red, the kaolin-painted face with cowrie eyes. Magnificent attachment of vulture feathers on the head. Body adornment of bone and wooden beads. Antelope horn with plant fiber appendages wrapped around the chest, the plaited pockets decorated with dots of human hair. Restored. Rubbed, slightly bumped at the feet. Height with base 80 cm. Condition: II - III
