Description

A Chinese bronze "halberd", Eastern Zhou, 5th - 3rd century B.C. Blade ending horizontally at the top, with an angled point at the front and extended far downwards on the underside. Three openings at the rear end for attachment, followed by a prominent vertical ridge. Rectangular tang with rectangular perforation behind the blade. Green patina with minor incrustations. Length 19.8 cm. Provenance: Frankfurt private collection. Acquired in April 2016 at Hermann Historica (auction 73, lot 4545). Previously Rhenish private collection, taken over from the father's estate, acquired by him in the 1960s to 1980s. Condition: I - II
