To the mother-in-law of the Marquis de Sade, then incarcerated at Vincennes.Necker regrets not being able to oblige her in the arrangement proposed by the Comte de Sainte-Foy (1721-1795, military and literary figure, grandson of Louis XIV and Mme de Montespan): "two months ago he received at the Royal Treasury the payment of the indemnity he offers today to delegate to you to pay the sum he owes you"...
Attached are 2 handwritten procedural documents between the Marquis de Sade's formidable mother-in-law, Marie-Madeleine Masson, widow of Claude-René Cordier (de) Montreuil, known during his lifetime as the "President of Montreuil" [deceased January 15, 1795], on the one hand, and her brother-in-law Marie-Joseph Cordier de Montreuil on the other, concerning the President's estate. These copies of a judgment of 22 germinal III (April 11, 1795) are dated 8 messidor VIII (June 27, 1800); the second bears on the back the address of the marquis's youngest son: "M. Armand de Sade, rue Cassette n°31".
