To the mother-in-law of the Marquis de Sade, then incarcerated at Vincennes.Necker regrets not being able to oblige her in the arrangement proposed by the Comte de Sainte-Foy (1721-1795, military and literary figure, grandson of Louis XIV and Mme de Montespan): "two months ago he received at the Royal Treasury the payment of the indemnity he offers today to delegate to you to pay the sum he owes you"... Attached are 2 handwritten procedural documents between the Marquis de Sade's formidable mother-in-law, Marie-Madeleine Masson, widow of Claude-René Cordier (de) Montreuil, known during his lifetime as the "President of Montreuil" [deceased January 15, 1795], on the one hand, and her brother-in-law Marie-Joseph Cordier de Montreuil on the other, concerning the President's estate. These copies of a judgment of 22 germinal III (April 11, 1795) are dated 8 messidor VIII (June 27, 1800); the second bears on the back the address of the marquis's youngest son: "M. Armand de Sade, rue Cassette n°31".

France, First Empire (1804-1814). An XIII model Marine flintlock pistol by Manufacture Impériale de St Étienne, 1811. Cal. 17.6 mm. All metal parts with slight gray patina. Smooth, round barrel with thunder flats, dated "C 1811" and stamped "B" crown for Antoine BLACHON, controller of cannons from 1798 to 1812. The tailstock is marked "Mle AN 13". Lock marked "Mre Impériale de St Etienne" and hallmarked "J" under crown for JAVELLE, lock controller from 1785 to 1812. Short-barreled walnut stock stamped, partly legible, "THIV... DORON" and stamped "32", brass cap not stamped. The brass and steel fittings are hallmarked "H" under "fleururette" for Jean-Batiste HARDY, controller of fittings from 1810 to 1813. Original nailhead steel ramrod present and stamped "F" under crown (?) (partly legible). Steel belt hook. Functional mechanism with two clear, play-free cocking notches. Clean inside barrel. Complete. 35 cm (barrel 20 cm). (The stock is surrounded on the left side by the breech pin. Good condition.)

France, First Empire (1804-1814). Sabre de Cavalerie de Ligne model AN XIII from the Manufacture Impériale de Klingenthal, 1813. Cast brass mounting with three secondary branches, the main branch stamped "B" in cursive for 2nd class comptroller Joseph BISCH (1809-1825), "F" in an oval, "35" and stamped "1232". Short-tailed skullcap cut into a brace. Stringed wooden spindle covered with brass filigree basane. Curved beak top. Natural leather tie. Beautiful straight white blade, with 2 hollow sides and flat back, marked "Manufacture Impériale de Klingenthal Octobre 1813". The heel is stamped "B" between foliage branches for 1st class controller Jean-Georges BICKS (corresponding to the period 1812-1813) and "L" in an oval for reviser François Louis LOBSTEIN (1804-1829). Model steel scabbard, with polished finish and slight gray patina, with two suspension rings and symmetrical stinger, no number. Comes with a later regulation brown leather strap. 111.5 cm (Blade 96 cm). (Wear from use, traces of rust blossom oxidation on the scabbard. Good condition).

France, 1st Empire (1804-1814). Infantry saber called "briquet", AN XI model, from the Imperial Manufactory of Klingenthal October 1813 (?). Bronze mount with 28 flutes. Single-branch hilt, stamped "B" in cursive in an oval for Joseph BISCH 2nd class controller from 1809 to 1824, "B" in a circle between branches of foliage for 1st class controller Jean-George BICK corresponding to the period beginning 1812-1815, and "60" in a rectangle, then another illegible stamp. Slightly curved, flat-backed, white blade with minor traces of oxidation towards the tip, and marked on the back "Manufacture Impériale du Klingenthal Octobre 18.. (?)", the production date difficult to read (1813?). It is stamped on the heel "L" in a circle for François Louis LOBSTEIN, reviser from 1804 to 1821. Black leather scabbard with two brass fittings, no visible marks or hallmarks, the cap with trigger guard. 73.5 cm (blade 59.5 cm). (Wear and tear, shocks on the scabbard fittings. Fairly good condition.)
