MANUFACTURE ROYALE D'AUBUSSON, 18th century. Large-format tapestry in polychrome wool. Beautiful border carefully decorated with ovals and flowers. Central composition featuring green landscapes, lakes and mountains in the background. Undergrowth opens onto a view of a village animated by villagers. A scene reminiscent of the Creuse Valley, echoing the localities of Aubusson. Size : 253 cm (length) x 194 cm Note: excellent state of preservation In 2009, UNESCO inscribed "La tapisserie d'Aubusson" on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, following its inclusion on France's Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2021, the inventory will be expanded, and the French Ministry of Culture will include the skills of the Aubusson-Felletin weavers in the French inventory of intangible cultural heritage.
