In the taste of the Manufacture de SAINT CLEMENT. Polychrome earthenware cockerel forming a vase (chips). Early 20th century. Height Height : 60 cm At the end of the 19th century, the Saint Clément earthenware factory produced a number of barbotine pieces, including pitchers and piggy banks, exceptional for their quality and recognizable by their colors. Production of barbotine pitchers faded after the Second World War. N.B.: Barbotine is a mixture of clay and water used to cast a piece or to glue together earthenware elements.
