(4)-36 pages + 1 plate h.t. Modern full bradel boards. Binding First edition. Adorned with a map of drug affinities and properties. "Wurtz, George Christophe, Strasbourg Temple Neuf, 14.12.1752 - Versailles, 09.09.1823 [...]. Pupil at the Protestant Gymnasium from 1759, matriculated at the Faculty of Philosophy in 1767, candidate in medicine in 1777 in his native town. His observations and research enabled him to compose and publish an original map of medicines in the form of a world map, under the title Conamen mappae generalis medicamentorum simplicium secundum affinitates virium naturalium, nova methodo geographica dispositorum, cum tabula aenea, in 1778. This classification of medical substances, by genus, species and degree, in various regions, according to whether they participate more or less from earth, water, air or fire, was accepted by several professors of Leipzig and Strasbourg and earned him the congratulations of the famous Buffon.
