Continuous pagination of XV-(1)-1339 pages + 16 color plates + IX-(1) pp. (faux-titre, title, afterword and table). Contemporary half-percaline bradel, red basane titles on spines, covers preserved. Delivery plates (17 in all) are bound at the end of each volume. The two general covers and their spines have also been preserved. Very good condition (two corner leaves restored, without missing, at the end of volume 2). Important work for determining all known birds, by Belgian naturalist A. Dubois (1839-1920). It is illustrated with 16 beautiful color hors-texte plates, based on the author's drawings, depicting different kinds of birds. Fasc. XV and XVI-XVII contain "tables of genera" and "alphabetical tables of species and systematic tables of orders and families". C.A.
