Campe,J.H. Theophron or the experienced counselor for the inexperienced youth. A legacy for his former foster-sons and for all grown-up young people who want to make use of it. 2 pp. in 1 vol. Tbg, Schramm and Balz 1789. Front. 6 pp., VIII, 216, 160 pp. Marbled boards. Central hardcover with reback and rich ribbed boards (partly slightly rubbed). Early edition of this extremely popular educational book, first published in 1783, in a very beautiful contemporary leather binding. - The present edition is a reprint of the original text version of the first and second legal editions of 1783 and 1786 respectively. The first part with advice on entering the profession and for 'future dealings with people'. The second part contains "curious rules of life from the Earl of Chesterfield's letters to his son" in Campes' adaptation. From the third edition (1790) onwards, the work was completely revised, with Campe removing the Earl Chesterfield's letters and editing them as a separate small work under the title 'Klugheitsregeln für Jünglinge' (cf. KJL III, 157 f.). - Front. with crease, otherwise a good copy.

Magnificent tho-situla made of bronze. Dong Son culture, ca. 800 B.C. - 200 A.D. H 17.2 cm, ø 22.6 cm. Thin-walled bronze tho-situla with green-turquoise patina, flared, cylindrical body, broad round foot and wide, horizontal mouth rim with two small, vertical handles. The body is decorated with four bands of vertical hatching in fine relief, the rim with an ornamental circular border in shallow relief. With patina! The tho-situlae are characteristic of the bronze objects that were left as offerings in the tombs of the Dông Son culture. In contrast to the thap situlae, they have no lid and were possibly used as spitting vessels for betel chewing. Excellently preserved. Age-related abrasion and discoloration. Provenance: Ex collection J.H., Munich, acquired late 1990s until before 2004.

King 'Louis' signature at the end. Countersignature by Michel (IV) Le Tellier. Slight traces of wear, good specimen. The King appoints the 'Sieur de Frarin' Major of the Sieur de Quincy cavalry regiment. The document was drawn up in the military camp of Aluze in Franche-Comté, where Louis XIV was for the war against the Spanish. The document bears the signature at the end of Michel (IV) Le Tellier, Marquis of Barbezieux, 'Secrétaire d'État de la Guerre' from December 27, 1651 to October 27, 1677.

Es war ein Bekenntnisruf zur Demokratie. In seinen Spalten wurde gegen alles Bestehende arg gewettert, die Satire hatte meist einen stark persönlichen Anstrich, aber es war ja die Absicht des Blattes Dunkelmänner auszuschwefeln ... Leider hatte der 'Mephistopheles nur eine kurze Wirkzeit. Es erschienen insgesamt 222 Nummern in einer Veröffentlichungszeit von zwei Perioden. Infolge von Zensurschikanen konnten im ersten Jahrgang nur 18 Nummern erscheinen. Die letzten Nummern bestanden fast nur aus Zensurlücken. Nach der vorläufigen Schlußnummer am 18. Mai 1847, erschien nach einer knappen Jahrespause, am 2. April 1848 die Nummer 19 unter alleiniger Redaktion des 'wilden' Publizisten Wilhelm Marr", der 1852 mit der Nummer 222 seine nach Wandsbek verlegte Redaktion schloss. "Der 'Mephistopheles ist nicht nur ein Kronzeuge für die Anfänge der demokratischen Presse in Hamburg, sondern auch eine Fundgrube vormärzlicher Journalistik ..." - Die drei gebundenen Bände jeweils mit Stempel "Privat Hamburgensien-Sammlug Carl Thinius". - 2 Bde. mit mont.
