Eugène Louis Gabriel Isabey, attr., Fischkutter A boat lying in shallow water with a retracted sail in front of a small town, washed India ink on paper, around 1880, inscribed "Isabey" on the reverse, further inscription "Louis Gabriel Eugène Isabey/Paris 1804-1886" on backing card, foxing and light-stained, stapled behind passepartout, sheet dimensions approx. 36 x 30 cm. Artist information: actually Eugène Louis Gabriel Isabey, French landscape, marine and genre painter as well as lithographer and wood engraver (1803 Paris to 1886 Montévrain/Seine-et-Marne), son and pupil of the miniature painter, draughtsman and lithographer Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767-1855), initially enthusiastic about seafaring, in Le Havre, in the face of the sea, turned to marine painting, made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1824 and received 1st medal. In 1830 he took part in the Algerian campaign as a royal marine painter, undertook study trips to England, Normandy and Brittany, became the official painter of the July Monarchy under King Louis-Philippe I alongside Eugène Louis Lami and François-Marius Granet, 1832 appointed Knight of the Legion of Honour and 1852 Officer of the Legion of Honour, attended the Paris Salon until 1878, also participated in the Berlin Academy Exhibition, the 1855 World Exhibitions in Paris and 1873 in Vienna as well as the Glass Palace Exhibitions in Munich, active in Paris, 1881 retired to his country residence Lagny near Paris, source: Thieme-Becker, Boetticher, Bénezit, Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, Müller-Klunzinger, Nagler, Müller-Singer, Saur Bio-Bibliographisches Lexikon, Seubert and Wikipedia.

William Joy, attr, Sailing Ships on the High Seas Three sailing ships with partly retracted sails in rough seas, under a loosely cloudy sky with rays of sunlight breaking through, watercolour, c. 1860, on the back of the frame label and inscription "William Joy (1803-1867)" and titled "The Kestrel - R. Y. S." as well as "The yacht was owned by Commodore Lord Yarborough", matted and framed behind glass. Y. Ad. de Coursy, Mountain Landscape with Torrent Imposing rugged, summery high mountain landscape with shepherds in front of a farmhouse by a mountain stream, glazed landscape painting, oil on canvas, 2nd half 19th cent, signed "Ad. de Coursy" (lower right), on the reverse a piece of wood applied to the modern stretcher, here partly illegible French annotation "Vue prise dans les montagnes de la Grande Chartreuse [engl.: Blick auf die Berge der Grande Chartreuse]", craquelure, wax doubling, restored, framed in old gilt stucco moulding (rest.bed.) with brass frame label with unverified attribution "Alexandre F.
