MALIVEL Jeanne (1895-1926) and BACON Julien (1892-1980) - ATELIER Saint-Guénolé (Caurel) Modernist armchair in molded and carved waxed oak resting on four straight legs. The low openwork back features a radiating motif. The belt is decorated on all four sides with a stylized flower motif. Based on the 1925 model created for the Breton pavilion at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs Industriels Modernes in Paris (Wear and accidents). Height 85 cm x W 45.5 cm x D 44.5 cm The model of our armchair is the one presented at the Pavillon Breton of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. The first set in this style was designed by Jeanne Malivel for her sister Marie-Charlotte's wedding in 1919 and produced by Alferd Ely-Monbet's successor in Caurel. Reference: Model reproduced in the sale "catalog" of Julien Bacon's Atelier Saint-Guénolé in Caurel. Provenance: Julien Bacon estate, by descent in the family.
